Institutional Research and Planning Directors

The MASU Institutional Research & Planning Directors (IRPD) Committee consists of the officers at Michigan public universities who are focused on internal quality. Institutional research is a function of a university that measures the university’s performance and benchmarking. IRPDs use this data to inform the work happening on accountability, student success, and efficiency across the entire university enterprise. The IRPDs also report massive datasets of student, employee, and financial records to the state and federal governments, as well as ad-hoc reports requested by government and external stakeholders.

As with all MASU committees, during their convenings, members of the IRPD Committee provide insight on the implications of current state and federal policy issues and fiscal dynamics affecting Michigan’s public universities. Traditional and emerging higher education topics and trends are considered from the perspective of institutional research & planning directors, with particular attention paid to such issues as student success and retention, graduation rates, higher education financing, state partnerships, and data integrity.
